Welcome to Rich Brown's driving school serving Chippenham and the surrounding area

Learning to drive is a huge commitment of time and money, so it should be a good experience too.

Far too many of my pupils have told me that they've tried before but felt they weren't getting the commitment or value from their instructor, or that the way they taught just 'didn't make sense'.

My aim is to provide you with a pleasant learning experience, giving great value for money and training which is centred around you as the student. You won't end up out of your depth on a huge roundabout or being swept along a dual carriageway without a clue what to do...

It's your lesson, so my job is to help you learn.

How Much?

The basic price for one hour of training is £42, but this can be added to in half hour slots.

A lot of students find 1.5 hours is a good amount of time as it doesn't impact too much on concentration, 1.5 hours is £63. Some students happily go for a 2 hour lesson less often, which generally means we get more done during the lesson. A 2 hour lesson is £84 although I don't recommend two hours for anything other than post-test motorway experience.

If you want you can also book a block of 5 hours (£200) or 10 hours (£400) which also give you the ability to book certain times in the diary up-front (subject to availability when booking!) I'm afraid that I no longer offer intensive courses.

Please don't contact me if you require short term arrangements such as a couple of hours before your test and/or use of the car just for the test. I do not offer this option due to the risk to the vehicle and my professional reputation.

Call, text or whatsapp me discuss your options on 07825 545215

About me

A lot of people ask me why I decided to give up a management career to teach people to drive, after all, isn't it a bit stressful? The straight answer is, "I love my job!", and how often do you hear that?

I've always had a passion for driving and a natural ability to bring out the best in people through a calm and methodical approach to helping people understand things. When the opportunity arose to change careers, becoming an instructor seemed like an obvious choice. I trained with Learner Driving Centres (LDC) and am a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.

I teach in a Renault Clio, over the years my  students have found that these cars are very easy to learn in, and from and instructor's point of view they're very reliable and robust!  I find leasing the cars enables me to replace them every two to three years which also is greatly appreciated by my students.

In my spare time I enjoy swimming, motorsport marshalling at Castle Combe Circuit (just can't get away from cars!) and do a bit of work upcycling antique and unusual things.

A word from Jordan:

"Hi my name is Jordan and I passed first time with Rich Brown. From day 1 Rich was easy to get along with we were always chatting not once did it feel awkward, he made my experience feel like a hobby and not a chore, he is very easy to get along with and his instructions are very clear, I am glad I chose Rich to be my instructor and I highly recommend him to anyone else. 10 out of 10"

The area I cover includes Chippenham, Corsham, and Melksham...plus the surrounding villages.

This all means my students can focus on taking their tests at the Chippenham test centre.
